Laser hair removal for men in Prague is done as a course: as a guide, 6-10 sessions plus 1-2 maintenance visits a year, the same as for women. Nobody can give you an exact number in advance: hair density, hair colour and skin vary from person to person, and even on one person different areas progress differently.
Why it can't be done in one session
The laser only works on hair in the active growth phase. At any given moment only some of the hairs in an area are in that phase, while the rest are resting and don't respond to the flash. That's why you need a course of several sessions: in our salon's experience, 6-10.

What's different for men
The guide for men is the same, 6-10 sessions. For men's laser hair removal, dark hair is an advantage: the laser picks it up well, and the treatment works best on thick, dark hair and light skin. How many sessions each area takes is in the table below.

A guide by area
| Area | Sessions per course | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Back | 6-10 | Dense hair, patches clear unevenly |
| Shoulders | 6-10 | Dark hair responds well |
| Chest | 6-10, usually longer than the underarms | It responds less well than the underarms |
| Stomach | 6-10 | Denser along the happy trail, finer on the sides |
| Underarms | 6-10, usually faster than the chest and legs | They respond better than the arms, legs and chest |
| Face and front of the neck | 6-10, maintenance once or twice a year | Hair is coarse and dark, the laser picks it up well |
| Back of the neck | 6-10 | The hair is usually dark, and the laser picks it up well |
| Arms | 6-10, longer above the elbow | Hair is usually darker on the forearms and lighter above the elbow |
| Legs | 6-10, thighs take longer than lower legs | Hair on the lower legs is usually darker and coarser |
What else affects the number of sessions
The area isn't the only thing that affects the number of sessions.
- Hair colour. The laser heats melanin, the hair's pigment, so it may work less well on blond, red and grey hair. Fully grey hair has almost no pigment, and we don't promise results on it.
- Regularity. If you miss your dates, some of the hairs have time to go into the resting phase, and we have to catch them at later sessions.
- Hormones and medication. Hormonal imbalance and some medications, such as anabolic steroids, can cause excess hair growth. If you take hormones or steroids, mention it at the consultation: it affects how we plan the course.

How things change over the course
With every session there's less hair: usually 10-25% less after the first one. In our experience, on the back and chest you can see the difference by the middle of the course, and that's also when you can tell which patches respond faster. By the end of the course the work is targeted, on the spots where hair is left.

What happens after the course
After the course there's noticeably less hair, but most people need maintenance after that too, because some fine hairs grow back. With us that usually means 1-2 visits a year for the odd stray hair.
How we handle it
At the free consultation before men's hair removal, we look at your skin and at the colour and density of your hair on each area, and give you a realistic range of sessions. After that we adjust the plan to how your skin responds. If you're doing several areas, for example the back, shoulders and back of the neck, we plan them all at once. Prices by area are in the men's price list, with 15% off a course of 3 sessions and 20% off a course of 6.
