How often should men get laser hair removal?

The first three sessions 4-5 weeks apart, then every 5-8 weeks on average, depending on regrowth. After the course, maintenance 1-2 times a year.

MEDULLA team

In a course of laser hair removal for men in Prague, the first three sessions usually take place 4-5 weeks apart, then the gap grows to 5-8 weeks on average. We set the date by how much the hair has grown back. On the arms, legs and stomach you can tell from the hair itself. You can't see your own back, and men often shave the face and neck every day, so for those areas the guide is the approximate date we give you at your visit.

Why you can't come more often

The laser only works on hair in the active growth phase, so men's laser hair removal is done as a course of several sessions with breaks in between. Come back sooner, after just 2-3 weeks, and only a small share of the hair on the area is in the growth phase yet, so the session does almost nothing.

Intervals at each stage of the course

The first three sessions are 4-5 weeks apart. After that, in our practice, the gap gets longer because the hair grows back more slowly.

How to tell it's time for a session

On the arms, legs and stomach, the hair itself is your guide. It's time when it has grown back roughly evenly across the whole area. If only a few hairs have come through in a couple of spots, wait another 1-2 weeks: the rest will catch up, and one session will treat them all.

You can't see your own back, and many men shave the chest regularly, which makes regrowth harder to judge there. For these areas, we'll tell you when it's time.

Face and neck if you shave every day

If you shave your face or neck every day, stubble won't tell you whether the hair has grown back evenly. Here too the first three sessions are 4-5 weeks apart, and after that the gap on the face sometimes grows more slowly than on the body. We give you an approximate date at your visit and message you as it gets closer.

Several areas in one visit

If you're doing several areas, such as the back, shoulders and back of the neck, we set a shared schedule so everything is done in one visit. For the chest and stomach together there's a separate area, Chest + stomach, which costs less than the two areas booked separately.

If you miss a session

A missed session doesn't reset the course: in our experience the results of your previous visits stay. But the laser only works on hair in the growth phase, so hairs that went into the resting phase during a long break will have to be caught at later sessions.

How long the course takes and when to start

Including the longer gaps at the end of the course, 6-10 sessions take roughly 8-18 months. Autumn is the easiest time to start: you need to stay out of strong sun for two weeks before and after each session, and that's simplest in autumn and winter. If you start in October, you'll have had 5-7 sessions by June, and the course will carry on from there. How many sessions different areas need is covered in the article how many laser hair removal sessions men need.

How we handle it

No need to count the weeks yourself: at the visit we give you an approximate date, and closer to it we message you, ask how the hair has grown back and book the session. That's how men's hair removal works with us on every area. Prices by area are in the men's price list.

Common questions

Can I have laser hair removal more often than once a month?+

No: the laser only works on hair in the growth phase, and after 2-3 weeks there's still little of it on the area. With us, the first three sessions are 4-5 weeks apart, and after that the gap only gets longer.

How often should I have my face and beard line done?+

The first three sessions 4-5 weeks apart, and after that the gap on the face sometimes grows more slowly than on the body. We'll give you an approximate date at your visit and message you as it gets closer.

I can't see my own back. How do I know it's time?+

You don't need to check yourself: as the date gets closer, we'll message you and suggest a time, and at the visit the specialist will see how the hair has grown back.

Can I do my back, shoulders and neck in one visit?+

Yes. We set a shared schedule so these areas are done together.

Can I shave between sessions?+

Yes, shaving doesn't touch the root. Wax, sugaring, tweezers and epilators are off limits until the end of the course.

Do I need maintenance after the course?+

Usually yes, 1-2 times a year, when a few new hairs appear.
